About A Foundation Liverpool

In Autumn 2006, A Foundation opened its Liverpool galleries on Greenland Street. Located in the heart of Liverpool’s old port area and moments from the River Mersey, Greenland Street comprises The Coach Shed, The Furnace and The Blade Factory. The architectural heritage of these spaces has been retained whilst providing world-class galleries for the exhibition of contemporary art.

Since opening A Foundation, Liverpool has shown works by over 200 artists ranging from emerging artists showing in Bloomberg New Contemporaries to those with significant international profiles.

A Foundation is committed to promoting Liverpool as a global platform for the production and exhibition of visual art and we work through sustainable collaborations with key local, national and international partners including; Arts Council England, Bluecoat, Ceri Hand, Contemporary Arts Society, European Biennial Network, Fact, Grizedale Arts, International Curators Forum, The John Moores Painting Prize, Liverpool Biennial, SUUM, Tate, VAIL and The Walker Arts Gallery.

A FOUNDATION IS WORKING WITH ARTIST REBECCA LENNON TO RECREATE A STILL IMAGE AS A LIVE PERFORMANCE AND FILM WITH 200 PARTICIPANTS. WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO TAKE PART!

CAN YOU JOIN US FOR TWO 4-HOUR SESSIONS ON 15 MARCH AND 8 APRIL 2010? THE ARTWORK, TITLED 'I COULD NEVER LIVE LIKE YOU DO' WILL BE EXHIBITED AT A FOUNDATION LIVERPOOL AS PART OF OUR UPCOMING EXHIBITION THE ECONOMY OF THE GIFT.

YOU WILL BE REWARDED WITH A SPECIAL LUNCH, A DVD OF THE FILM AND A 1/200 SHARE* IN THE VALUE OF THE FINAL PERFORMANCE ARTWORK.

Education and Participation

A Foundation is committed to developing and encouraging new audiences for the visual arts. Through our programmes we aim to reach a wide range of participants and actively engage them in current debates and dialogues found in contemporary visual art.
